Training Notes, 071808

General~63~Had a better weekend with a new training collar on. Last weekend was an exercise in frustration for 12 month old General and his WPR Lisa, and she needed to be successful with him this weekend. He had several field trips, to training class, to the vet, pet store, out to dinner, shopping in a huge mall, walking busy city streets, grocery store. WPR Lisa is using his kibble if she needs to refocus him, nothing more.

Jewel~63~She is doing extremely well, is starting to learn tasks. We put a fire hydrant in her way and asked her to turn on the switch above it...took her a minute but she will figure things out, she's a very smart little girl. I notice that she tends to be a little tentative with jumping up, onto, and over, but she continues to improve. I am determined to get her over her fear of skateboards so am bringing one in for her to be around every week. So far, no reaction at all. Will try again this week.

Roger~He has a new handler, Paul. He had been on an extended stay with his WPR and has had many experiences that will make him a better service dog. He went to the hospital with WPR Michele and her mom for a minor operation that her mom had to have. He was fine around all of the equipment, people, loudspeakers, smells, etc. of the hospital, even with an upset stomach. Roger also got shaved this week~Stephanie the groomer said he was a doll!
