All of our dogs have been experiencing intermittant loose stools so after a negative stool sample, a week of Flagyl and bland diet we're now worming all of them with Panacur in hopes that they'll all be fine for Christmas. If you have a dog that you suspeact of having any sort of parasites it is imperative to pick up after them immediately so that the worms do not get into the soil, making them almost impossible to get rid of.
We had an informal training class after our working class this week. This was a time for asking questions, proofing handling exercises, and getting to know each other's dogs better. It was discovered that certain things that some do with thier dogs, others don't, and that there are different techniques for cutting or grinding nails, and responding to poor impulse control, etc. Thank you to all that attended, we will try to have these classes once a month or whenever we need one.
There is no mandatory class on Christmas weekend, the 27th, but I will still be here so if you wish to bring your pup to class you may. :)
General~70.8 070607
Over the last few weeks General has really begun to show his best side. His "puppy stuff" and his "puberty stuff" are all but gone and like mining for gold, what we're left with is pure brilliance. He is responding with enthusiasm to every command, and is trying so hard to get lightening fast downs in case we find a child to match him with. He will respond to commands from a child or from anyone that takes his leash. He is excellent with other dogs and is a "one command" dog for Lisa and Mark.
Jewel~76 112207
Paula brought me a Duck and Potato food from By Nature, our new food sponsor. I am hoping that will fix the bad gut problem that Jewel has been having since October. I have fasted and bland-dieted and Flagyl'd her and nothing but bland diet has worked. I didn't work her this week because she had been sick all week, but she looked good last week. Lights out is still a problem, so we've gone back to nudge and getting it on the first try. She will be going to Norfolk on 12/28.
Sully~53.8 101507
Sully is working with incredible enthusiasm, tail is up and wagging the entire time he's with Paul. He did not while at all this week when I came to teach~this is a huge breakthrough for him as he tends to be a very vocal dog. I have noticed an exaggerated startle response in this dog and rather than try to get it out of him, we are working with it to try to teach him a sound indication. Sully may be my first "hearing dog"!

All our dogs are working on back-to-basics fetching, no chewing on the dumbell! Decon is doing well at everything else, but has challenges when it comes to birds and other things in the sky.
