Training Notes, 061509

Deacon 0902
Weight: 68 lbs
DOB 062208

I got the opportunity to take Deacon to our spring graduation at Handscom AFB on Sunday. Here are my impressions about working with him:
He rides well in the car.
Rubbing the GL on the floor, people, chairs, is a problem.
He is still overly interested in other/new dogs, to the point of being rude to his handler and ignoring commands.
His obedience is lackluster and sloppy unless the handler has food.
Food is not enough of a lure when there are other dogs in close proximity.

Cory~please make sure he's working on a prong collar when you take him out~he is excellent while working inside PCC, but still needs some "growing up" time on the outside and I do not want him to think he can bully or overpower his handler.

Sally 0936
DOB: 120908
Weight: 49lbs.

Sally, Mighty, Sutton and Elsa as well as Sutton's "sister" Darcy and CCI dogs Tobiah, Ebony and Kent all went on a field trip to Providence Waterfire on Saturday. This was a day into night time trip for our pups. They got to meet many, many new people, strange dogs, and people in costume. They went into tunnels, watched the gondolas and boats go by, wore glowstick necklaces, and walked in very close proximity to traffic and the river. We watched dancers and took a break to listen to the (loud) salsa music. None of the pups were had problems with any of the situations that we exposed them to. All of the handlers were excellent.

Sally was great both at Waterfire and graduation, attentive to handler in the crowds, receptive to meeting new people, and respectful in a quiet down stay during the ceremonies. Nice job!

She is working on straight sits and retrieving to hand with Parisse and is doing well with both.
