Training notes, 062411

Odin 11103 went on his first field trips this week.  He was excellent at the carnival, inside the grocery store, and at Old Sturbridge Village where we took 7 pups in the rain.  WPR notices that when Odin gets tired he's a bit like a child~whiny, belligerent, clings, and then he crashes.  It's like he doesn't want to miss out on anything!  He is working on attention and focus to handler when there are children around~he biggest distraction.  There were many, many kids as OSV~school field trip days.  We believe that he may have been a kennel dog, and he needs to be able to work a bit more than he does now, so Gerald is working on building Odin's stamina to more acceptable levels.

Major 1135 did well on the trip to OSV.  He does pull and sniff, so his WPR is working on attention and loose leash heeling in public.  Adam is working on generalizing his fetch and has worked up to metal and soft cloth objects like socks.  Major has an excellent fetch with very little mouthing.

Rosella 1185 was on the floor with Odin last week, just "playing face" as we call it.  Odin rollde over and Rosella splayed her back legs, causing a pulled muscle, we think.  Poor little girl was in a bit of pain, but appeared to be fully recovered by Wednesday so she went out for a very quiet weekend with Alycia on Saturday.  She seemed completely fine when I checked her on Thursday and Saturday.  Chris is working on basic obedience with her, attention and loose leash walking outdoors.  Rosella is a very outgoing puppy, no fears or issues.

Graham 1187 has some mysterious bumps on his trunk, chest and shoulders.  They're itchy, not oozing or flaking and appears to be worse after the weekend, according to Paul.  I have asked for a vet check and then a food change, hopefully this week.  His affect and additude are fine, I got to work with him alot on Saturday.  Graham and his WPRs are in a basic obedience class with pet puppies for the next 6 weeks.  Paul is working on basic obedience, attention and loose leash walking with Graham, and the pup is responding well, no fears or issues.
