Weights:
Waldo~63
Chip~49
Star~48
Chesty~45
Waldo~Paul is still working from the wheelchair. Waldo still "crowds", but is learning to give it a bit more space so as not to get run over. ;) After a week "off" Waldo is a bit rusty, but is happy to be back and still wants very much to please his handler.
Thank you again to Sandy for taking Waldo on short notice and providing some valuable socialization time for him!
Waldo has an appointment to have inter-digital cysts on his front left foot eval'd by the vet the second week of September.
Chip~Chip's fear period is waning, and Mike is learning how to get him through more potentially fearful situations successfully. This week Chip will be the "mail dog". The mail cart that's used every day is large, wobbly, creaks, moans, and looks like it will tip over at any second. Chip is not a fan of the mail cart, so he and Mike will be assisiting with the mail deliveries all week to try to get Chip more comfortable around it. They will use the HEEL, WATCH ME, and GO SAY HI commands.
Star~The little princess is so much better today, back to her old self. She and Mark worked on simple commands with lots of praise this week, during her illness and bee sting episode. While in class Star growled at Chip over a toy so Mark will work on "MINE".
Chesty~Chesty is doing wonderfully! He's a bit distracted by the other pups when they go by him so I asked that all handlers work thier dogs in the same room every day to get the pups used to working around their "playmates". He is still working with lots of food, but will start weaning off in September.
Alternates: We have new alternates~HOORAY!!! Welcome to our program Jason and David, please observe the full time handlers this week as much as you can, and read the My Smart Puppy book. Thanks to Richard who's still mentoring AJ, and Jerry who's been working alot with Chip.
WPR news:
We have a new WPR family for Chip! The paperwork needs to be completed, but hopefully they will be able to start soon.
We had a great class this week. We worked on three step drills for heel, auto sit and down, holding sits and downs, and had a "problem solving" discussion at the end of class.
Waldo had some daycare time this week, which taught him alot about proper behavior with other dogs.
Star is scheduled for more classes this weekend as is Chesty.
All WPRs are to reminded to fill out your homework sheets online and email them back to me ASAP.
All of our WPRs are providing valuable social interactions with other dogs, new people and new places for their pups while insisting on good manners from them. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
