Training Notes 092107

Weights:
Waldo~63
Chip~52
Star~53
Chesty~52

Waldo~Is looking great, Paul is working on a long stand stay (over a minute) and keeping Waldo very steady, no foot movement at all. His other commands are great, and the inter-digital cyst (on his foot) is almost gone. He is in great spirits.
From Waldo's WPR, Sandy: He's really protesting when in the crate. She did just move last week so she's getting him used to the new place and he's being crated a bit more than he used to be (at my request). I think he'll be fine in a few weeks.

Chip~Chip had a barking incident last week that I had initially chalked up to being startled but it appears that he's being fearful with certain people and barking and growling. I will post the decided course of action after consulting with Paula and Kerry at NEADS. His obedience is ok, still pulling on the leash though. Mike's gotten him to tug with the new toy, and we've found a treat that he will work for~dehydrated chicken.

Star~Has a possible infection in her belly, went to the vet and he asked that she be kept as quiet as Mark can keep a 6 month old puppy. Lots of crate rest and antibiotics. Star's doing well with working while wearing the Halti, and Paul taught her how to speak this week.
Working on holding down this week.
Chesty~He will tug on the new toy that we put on the fridge handle, and when he gets a little taller will be able to open the door without a problem. He is still "Hoovering" the ground and both handlers are working hard on breaking that habit. He has a beautiful "attention heel" when he's actually paying attention, which appears to be more and more often. He came to class today with the Halti on and is getting better at leaving it alone though the entire class.
Working on being respectful on stairs and "speak" this week.

From the Alternates:
I have a request from Jerry to post some sort of schedule for the alternates so I will work on one this week and run it through Mike.
From the WPR's:
Star's new WPR Heather is getting paperwork done, clearances, etc. and will hopefully be on-board next week.
