Waldo~has still has the interdigital cyst that had been growing steadily for a month or so~he will go back to the vet ASAP for a recheck after a 14 day course of antibiotics. His training with Paul continues to progress. Paula suggested that I ask Paul to work on Waldo holding a very steady stand stay and assisting with stair access, along with continuing the wheelchair work. I got a backpack for Waldo this week so he'll start wearing that instead of his vest. Thank you to Waldo and Paul for a very nice demo for the recruit class that observed today.
Chip~Got his last shots on Monday morning and had his ears checked by our vet. He does have an ear infection this week (he checked it last week and it hadn't started yet). Mike will tend to that along with the black fly bites on his belly and the puncture wound on his neck (from playing with Chesty). His obedience continues to improve. He is going out with his new weekend person, Lisa, today.
Star~Got spayed last Wednesday and appears to be back to her old self already. Mark hasn't done alot with her obedience this week, and she will stay in the facility this weekend to recover fully and to prevent possibly ripping stitches or introducing an infection. Thank you to Mark and Star for the demo that they did for the recruits! Star's WPR has to stop taking her for a while due to health issues, but we are hoping to have her back at some point. Best of luck and thank you to Melissa! I will get in touch with a new WPR family for Star this week.
Chesty~Is learning new commands every week and is doing so well, I couldn't be happier with his progress. I got to spend several hours with him and Dawn on Sunday at a street fair and they were a great team~although Chesty needs reminders for a down stay under distraction, he doesn't seem to need to be reminded to behave like an assistance dog. Hoorah Chesty! (...and AJ and Dawn!!)
