Training Notes, 022208

Star~
Star had a strange week. She now has a neutral reaction to the power floor washer and the commercial vaccuum and was almost perfect in her obedience without any food motivator at all. However, she was "freaked out" when walking in a very familiar place with Mark one day this week. Because of where they live, I suspect that an animal was either there before them or still nearby and that was what was making her nervous. She also growled at a person playing ball with her who tried to take her ball away. I suspect that it was in play, but have reminded Mark not to allow anyone who is not a member of our program to play or work with Star in any way. She is still having trouble saying hello to strange women in a nice manner.
During class Star retrieved a very heavy ring of keys for Mark but had trouble with a bully stick.
She was extremely distracted by Roger.

General~
Less and less resistance to the GL. He is tugging the door off the fridge with it on, fetching, and speaking with it on. He is showing more motivation to work with it on as well. His obedience was good, needs to be reminded more than once when distracted, but overall was good. General was distracted by Roger's bully stick. :)

Roger~
Our newest addition is Roger, a 9 week old Golden Retriever puppy. I will post pics of Roger next week. He is spending the week bonding with AJ and learning his name, how to walk on a leash and how to sit on command. I spent the night with Roger and noticed that he has some food aggression with humans, so when I reviewed this information with AJ we came up with a plan to work on it immediately. His WPR will be Michele.
