Sully~We have a new pup visiting for a few weeks, his name is Sully. He is one of the puppies in our full time puppy raiser program and is a very sweet, small male black lab. Sully is with to work on some basics and his handler will be Scott, who is being tutored by Paul and Mark. Sully and Scott got along well immediately, it's a good match.
Here are a few things that we found out this week about Sully, and the things we will concentrate on while he's here:
He does not like to be brushed.
He does not like to have his ears cleaned.
He has a very difficult time working around other dogs.
He has limited social skills and does not know how to properly greet other dogs.
Sully barks at people and dogs and things he does not recognize.
He is sweet and is extremely food motivated, making him easy to train.
He loves his crate but if left there he will bark and whine.
General~64~Played well with Sully this week. Mark is still able to call General out of play, but need two commands. He is working on a down in motion, drop on recall, and solid down stay, even if pulled/pushed. He is still a bit taken with new dogs, but not to the point that he will break a command, and he does like to sniff poles/hydrants/posts in the city to "read the mail".
Jewel~72~Jewel is limping a bit this week in class, she was playing with General earlier and he ran into her right hind leg with his head and down she went. She will be better with rest, I'm sure, but no daycare this week, no playing with the other dogs. Jewel doesn't seem to care for Sully, perhaps he's too wild for her? Mark had both Sully and Jewel outdoors this week and Mark came out of a door. Sully barked at Mark and then Jewel did, too. They were both repremanded for barking.
Roger~56~Roger is working on walking beside the wheelchair, and being respectful when greeting his WPR Michele on Fridays. He is guarding toys~gets stiff and doesn't want to give things up immediately. Paul is working on this with him. He is not limping this week, so back to "full activity" and stairs again.
