Deacon~is going out to Princeton on Tuesday, October 27th to be evaluated and possibly placed as a stability dog. We are sad to see him go, he has been such a wonderful part of our program for such a long time, but wish him the best of luck at the next step on his journey.
Sally~Started having a bit of an issue with alert barking about a month ago, just tiny low huffing sounds, and Dawn would direct her to QUIET and WATCH ME. It developed into a small bark or growl that stopped as quickly as it came when there was something that may have looked menacing to her in the distance. When she recognized it as a person~even a stranger~she quieted. She is now barking alot more, barking at other dogs, barking when excited. This may be in response to the inmate trying extremely hard to get her to SPEAK on command~he tried for over a month and now that she's got it, it appears that she can't stop. Working on QUIET.
She also showed a fearful reaction to some Halloween decorations hanging at the training center. They were spooky hanging things with "fringes" hanging almost to the floor. They blow around when the class is moving. Dawn got her through it, and she will now move through it without any shying or slowing, but even by the end of the second week's class her ears were still pinned.
JC~has shown remarkable improvement. Her obedience is better, her willingness to be handled by others is better.
Frankie~has been moved to MCI Norfolk.
