Welcome to Merlin and Chopper!! This week was brutal, with temps in the high 90's and 70%+ humidity. Everyone was wiped out and there was not much training going on, per my instruction.
Rubin~DOB 091709, 68lbs. Rubin is coming along very well, hates the heat. His task work is sloppy and needs to be tightened up, but I love his enthusiasm. We're working on UP STAY without swimming on the wall.
Richie~Richie was failed this week, due to miscellaneous health issues. He has been x-rayed and there does not appear to be anything wrong with him, but he still appears to be tentative with sits and downs. Vet also suspects that he has difficulty seeing so we are sending him to a vetinary opthamologist before he is placed. Richie is looking for one person to bond to, he is happy and does not appear to be in distress. His personality and disposition are wonderful.
Duke~DOB 022810, 39lbs. Duke met our new pup Chopper last Friday and did a bit of trying to intimidate and bully him. Chopper immediately answered him and then some. Duke is an extremely confident food motivated puppy who is curious about everything. He shows no fear of anything so far, and will usually move toward a strange noise or object in his environment. Duke loves toys and will sometimes guard them with other pups and even adult dogs. He has a rather strong prey drive and chipmunks are something that he really wants to check out. He has an excellent attention to handler, recall is spot on. Obedience is coming along. WPR reports that they walked in the woods not far from a shooting range~no reaction from pup. He did well in the heat, no adverse reaction, loves the pool.
