What's New?
We will have new software for weekend reporting soon, but until then, PLEASE keep up with your pup's reports~it's the only way I can track what's going on~we are going to have a very large string of pups by the end of this year and keeping things straight is harder when you have 30 dogs than when it was 10. If your pup doesn't go out, please post the reason why: a busy weekend, sick puppy, on vacation, etc.
We are going to slowly transition from the words HEEL and SIDE to LEFT and RIGHT. The dogs don't know left and right yet but we will be introducing it in the prison this week. For now, heel/left and side/right are acceptable, we know it will take time to learn but this is to make dog handling easier for our clients who are not dog trainers~some have never had a dog before. The words left and right are more intuitive for them, and since they only have two weeks on campus to learn all that they need to, we are about making it as easy as possible for them to have early successes! (Remember when you were new to this??)
We have a new 6 week Intro to Puppy Raising class beginning on October 9 at 10am at Happy Tails in Franklin. If you're new and don't have a puppy yet or just got or are getting one, this is the class for you! We will answer all of your questions and teach you the commands you will need to communicate with your dog. You will also get to work with a dog. Please try to make these classes, they're important to your success as a NEADS puppy raiser!
I am trying to get into the Roxbuy VA hospital to do regular monthly visits with the puppies and get them around patients and adaptive equipment. We do have a regular date on the second Saturday of the month at 2pm to go to Bethany Nursing Care in Framingham. Please check with me to be sure your pup is ready for these visits.
Please email any questions to be directly! christina@alphadogk9.com
