Waldo~63~8 months
Chip~43~5 months
Star~43~5 months
Chesty~35~4 months
All pups got Heartgard and Frontline today.
It is 95F with 90% humidity today, and I have instructed the handlers to keep the pups quiet and hydrated. We are allowed to use the visitor's room for our class that ran a bit over time, it is air conditioned! ;)
Waldo~Still has acne in his chin, X 2 weeks but doesn't appear to be getting any worse. Still has a wart of some kind on the bottom of his front right foot, between the third and fourth toe pad X3 weeks, no change. Paula discovered a wart in the same place on his rear foot months ago, still no change on that one either. The scar from the spilled hot coffee on his back is completely covered and is barely noticeable now. Paul says he plays nicely with the new pups, letting them chew on him without any retaliation, and not playing roughly or bullying them.
Chip~We did some exercises with Chip today. I got him to watch me and then kicked the aluminum trash barrel. I rewarded him for a neutral reaction. We did it until I kicked the barrel across the room, no reaction, about 3 minutes. We did the same exercise with the mail cart, same end. He appears to be getting through the fear stage that he was in. Gave Mike a Wubba toy for Chip today, to try to motivate him a bit more since he's not really a "foodie".
Star~Is doing no pull, sit for everything, and down. She is having a problem with jumping when greeting people, and she is mouthing alot. She is doing the exercises in the book for homework. Gave Star a Kong ball today.
Chesty~Chesty is doing well with his new handler, AJ and knows sit and down and is working on no pull. He greets appropriately but seems to be part shark...a bit mouthy. I assigned the My Smart Puppy exercises in the book for Chesty.
Alternates are Richard and Jerry.
Richard is mentoring AJ and Chesty and I notice a huge difference in both this week. He has put alot of effort into those boys and it shows.
Jerry is spending time with Chip and the pups and seems to be getting the commands down as well as the techniques.
WPR info~
Sandy is off this week.
Sally dropped Chip to me at 10am on Sunday. He dragged her into the training center. He and Draco played hard for about an hour and a half, then I brought him to be groomed. The groomer said he didn't have one mat in his coat, his nails were in great shape, and he was a perfect gentleman. After his appointment I brought Draco and Chip to meet two Papillions and a chihuahua~they had a ball running in the field, even though the chihuahua bit Chip's nose. Alot. ;) He was great in my small convertible, settled immediately and seemed to like the ride, was friendly to everyone he met and didn't mind the lawn tractor that headed right for us at one point, about 3 feet away. We had a great day!
I got a call from Melissa, Star's WPR . She is waiting for orientation at PCC and wants to start taking Star as soon as possible.
I got a call from Dawn, Chesty's WPR (a former US Marine~hoora!) who said she's also ready for orientation and then to take Chesty ASAP.
All three pups will attend Saturday puppy class at until they're ready for a more advanced class.
