We did a comprehensive evaluation of Nykki 1173 today in the dayroom.
Handler reports that she "red lines" or has a fit when she is physically restrained from an object that she desires. He states that she also does this with the other dogs when humans interfere with play.
She is a forward puppy who always wants to be in the fore of any pack play, she will steal toys and go to a defensable position (under a chair) but is easily re-engaged by a human or another of the dogs. I gave her a bully stick that she was extremely fond of, but when I told Merlin to get it, she allowed him to take it from her. She tried to take it back, but Merlin was too fast for her. She allowed me to take it from her several times, no issues, no trades. She played with a new tug toy with lots of movement~I took it from her several times, and Major took it from her several times. No issues. Same with a new squeaker toy.
Her play is a little aggressive, she barks and growls but that appears to be because she's smaller than the rest of the pack. She allowed me to handler her, pull tail, ears, toes, examine her mouth, her ears. She rolled onto her back with a treat lure. She allowed me to suspend her off the floor and when I pinched the webbing between her toes she licked my hand.
She seems appropriate to her age for all behaviors.
I did tell the inmate that he was over correcting her and putting her into defense, that she was probably overwhelmed with the move, and that she might just need a short adjustment period.
I like her. She's staying.
WPR Alycia~She will be eval'd for daycare asap so that she can learn proper pack behaviors. Please make an appt for first available appt. If you're not around I can take her.
Merlin~needs work on behavior without cape on. He's rude to humans if he's in "play mode". He also needs to learn the automatic alert when handler goes to ground.
Major looks great, but is a jumper when he's on free time. Needs work on manners.
Rubin is still with us, but not for long. I have a plan for him. :)
